나는 개를 키우면서 아파트라는 주거형태에 대한 회의감이 들기 시작했다.

그리고 언젠가부터 개개인의 삶의 가치를 수량화하고, 삶의 양태를 동질화하는 네모난 세상 속에서 벗어나고 싶어졌다.

나와 털뭉치를 위한 우리만의 작은 집을 짓고 싶다는 꿈을 꾸기 시작한 건 아마 그맘때부터였을 것이다. 그 후로 차곡차곡 모은 반려동물 주택 데이터가 폰 갤러리 한 가득.

그 중 일부를 두 번째 공유한다. 보는 것 만으로도 기분 좋아지는 아름다운 집과 털뭉치의 모습을.

화이트와 우드의 다양한 변주

단조로운 소재와 색감을 다양하게 변주하면 완전히 다른 느낌으로 재해석된다.

글로벌 건축 회사 우드 바곳(Wood Bagot)의 수석 디자이너가 디자인한 이 집은 우드를 과할 정도로 집착한 듯 하지만, 화이트 회벽과 빛을 활용해서 둔탁하고 답답한 느낌을 완벽히 중화했다. 그리고 집안 곳곳을 배회하는 나라(Nala)의 느긋한 움직임은 공간과의 완벽한 조화를 만들어 낸다.

Despite the house’s dilapidated and slightly ramshackle appearance, its character shone through to the clients and a brief was developed to retain as much of the original fabric as possible. This respectful embrace of the existing building’s quirks defined the project’s conceptual framework and construction methodology.

예술적이고 일상적인

팬데믹 기간 동안 가족과 자라(Zara)가 거의 모든 시간을 함께 보낸 집.

집은 일상과 업무와 휴식이 혼재된 공간이었다. 이 독립된 빌라는 구성원 프라이버시를 지키며, 모두의 조화로운 일상을 유지할 수 있는 분리와 연결, 열림과 닫힘으로 가족의 울타리 역할을 해 냈다.

Zara has definitely been enjoying isolation more than anyone else in the house. I’ve been working from home and Zara is either at my feet sleeping or trying to sit on my lap which isn’t very comfortable with her 17kg weight. It's been so good to have her here for so many reasons.

가장 자연스러운 인위

시드니 인근 작은 도시 모스만의 조용한 마을 언덕 마루에 위치한 주택.

콘크리트와 철제로 가장 도시적인 오브제를 사용하면서도 바위, 나무, 식물 등을 자연을 차용하여 공간의 온도감을 맞췄다. 그 중에서도 진흙 색깔을 닮은 라브라두들 머디는 이 집을 가장 자연스럽게 만들어 주는 주인공이다.

A house is organised along a central circulation spine, punctuated by a frangipane tree at one end, and a contemporary Australian sculpture at the other. From within, its room-forms ‘press’ out into the landscape setting. The perimeter of the house is extended by a series of courtyards which disintegrate the otherwise pure form of the building.
