Born To Be는 2000년에 문을 연 러프 콜리(Rough Collie)와 웰시 코기(Welsh Corgi) 전문 켄넬입니다. 처음에는 콜리부터 시작했어요. 전 어릴 때부터 뭔가 하나에 빠지면 깊이 천착하는 스타일이에요. 유명한 명견들과 브리더들을 직접 만나기 위해서 러프 콜리의 종주국인 영국으로 건너갔죠. 그리고 프랑스 유명 켄넬에서 헬퍼로 일하면서 브리딩 기초를 익혔습니다.

Q. 그럼 코기와는 언제 사랑에 빠졌나요?
2007년에 모스크바에서 제 이상형인 웰시코기를 처음 보았어요. 그 순간 머리가 아찔할 정도였어요. 곧 바로 저를 사라잡은 코기의 브리더에게 가서 그 녀석의 강아지를 예약했습니다.ㅎㅎ 그렇게 제 인생의 첫 번째 코기가 집에 오게 되었어요. 그 후 콜리에게 빠져들었듯, 코기에 대해 모든 걸 조사하고 배우기 시작했습니다. 요즘은 온라인에 많은 정보가 있지만, 그때만 해도 도그쇼나 직접 켄넬을 찾아가 여러 브리더를 직접 만나 조언을 구하고 이야기를 들었어요.

Q. 초기에는 어려움이 많았겠어요.
세상은 바뀌었지만, 전 아직도 브리딩은 글이나 말로 하는 게 아니라 직접 행동하는 거라고 생각해요. 좋은 브리더가 되기 위해서는 기운과 에너지, 그리고 무엇보다 지식이 필요합니다. 객관적으로 검증된 지식이 있어야만 브리딩은 예술이 됩니다. 저는 견종마다 갖고 있는 고유한 기능에 집중한 브리딩이 가장 중요한 핵심이라고 믿어요. 지구상에 존재하는 400여 견종은 우리의 유산이고, 우리는 다음 세대를 위해 이를 보존할 책임이 있다고 생각해요.

Q. 어떻게 브리더가 되겠다고 결심하게 되었나요?
진짜 어렸을 때에요. 또래 친구들이 연예인을 좋아하고, 디스코텍에서 노는 데 빠져있을 때 전 엉뚱하게도 전 세계의 유명 브리더들과 소통하고, 견종의 혈통 라인을 암기하는 게 즐거웠어요. 전 개에 대한 모든 걸 스폰지처럼 흡수했죠. 그리고 빠르게 제가 브리더라는 직업에 적합하다는 걸 알게 되었어요.ㅎㅎ

Q. 여러 품종 중 특히 콜리와 코기에 빠진 이유가 있을까요?
제가 아기였을 때부터 가족이 콜리를 길렀어요. 그리고 조금 더 컸을 땐 나만의 콜리를 갖고 싶었죠. 부모님을 졸라 9번째 생일에 콜리 강아지를 선물로 받았는데, 불행히도 그 아이는 2년 후 하늘나라로 떠났어요. 힘들어 하는 저를 위해 부모님은 다른 콜리 친구를 만들어 주기로 하셨는데, 제가 브리더에게 입양하자고 졸랐어요. 나이는 어렸지만, 책을 읽으며 브리더라는 존재에 대해 알게 되었고, 단순히 한 마리의 강아지를 입양하는 게 아니라 일생의 친구를 얻는 일이라는 걸 배웠죠. 결국 두번째 콜리를 1년을 기다려 입양했고, 그 브리더는 기꺼이 제 첫 번째 멘토가 되어 주었요. 그리고 개라는 신 세계에 눈을 뜨게 해주었죠.

그때부터 본격적으로 도그쇼를 참관하기 시작했어요. 웰시코기는 그 때부터 눈여겨 봤어요. 매우 영리하고 사랑스럽다는 건 알았죠. 그러다 러시아에 있을 때 제 영혼을 사로잡은 코기를 만났습니다. 링에서 보여준 그 아이와 브리더의 교감과 관계가 매우 인상적이었어요. 저는 곧바로 그 브리더에게 달려 갔고, 대뜸 제가 갖고 있는 돈을 몽땅 건넸죠. 좋은 강아지에 대한 보증금이라고요. 아마 그 분도 황당했을 겁니다.ㅎㅎ 그리고 몇 달 후, 그 코기의 아들인 Napo가 우리의 삶 속으로 들어왔고, 코기에 대한 중독이 시작됐어요.

Q. 당신을 사로잡은 콜리와 코기만의 매력을 꼽는다면요.
둘은 매우 다른 성격을 갖고 있어요. 러프 콜리는 예술가적인 기질을 갖고 있죠. 매우 영리하고, 가족과 함께 지내기에 수월하지만, 다소 예민할 수도 있어요. 가족이 된다면 이 녀석들에게 특별한 걸 가르칠 필요가 없을 거에요. 그냥 웬만한 건 다 알고 있어요. 동시에 사랑하지 않을 수 없는 우아함도 갖고 있죠. 도그쇼 링에서 보여주는 콜리의 부드러운 움직임과 스윗한 표현력은 가슴을 녹인답니다.

웰시 코기는 정말 너무 너무 너무 똑똑해요. 그리고 사랑스러운 웃음 유전자를 타고났죠. 전 매일 이 아이들에게 탄복한답니다. 녀석들은 그림자처럼 어디든 뒤뚱뒤뚱 따라다니며 저를 바라봐요. 항상 모든 걸 알고 싶어하고, 함께라면 무엇이든 웃으면서 할 준비가 되어 있는 적극성을 갖고 있어요. 나는 이런 코기의 태도와 성격을 사랑한답니다.

Q. 브리딩할 때 당신이 가장 중요시하는 부분은 무엇인가요?
이건 한 마디로 규정할 수 없는 질문인데요. 브리딩에는 제가 중요하다고 여기는 많은 요소들이 있지만, 그 중에서 으뜸은 누가 뭐래도 품성(Character)에요. 매일을 함께 지내야 하는 가족이기 때문에 아무리 아름답고 이상에 가까운 개라고 해도 올바른 품성을 갖고 있지 않다면, 같이 생활하기가 어려워요.

Q. 품성은 객관적인 평가가 어렵지 않나요?
견종 표준이 핵심입니다. 특정 품종의 개를 기르거나 번식하는 모든 사람들은 표준을 알아야 해요. 견종마다 정립된 해부학적이고 구조적인 완성도는 필수이지만, 얼굴 표정과 몸에서 우러나는 표현력은 개를 완성하는 화룡정점이에요. 외형과 품성, 이 두 가지 요소는 브리딩의 알파와 오메가입니다. 그래서 저는 웃는 얼굴 표정과 적극적이고 자신있는 표현력을 보여주지 못하면 아무리 아름다운 외형을 갖고 있어도 전혀 감흥을 느끼지 못해요.

Q. 외형과 품성 외에 브리딩에서 중요하게 여기는 다른 요인이 있으면 알려주세요.
건강 테스트의 중요성에 대해서도 이야기하고 싶어요. 건강 테스트 결과는 특정 견종이 갖고 있는 유전병에 대해 문제가 없다는 걸 입증하는 데 활용하는 수준에 머물면 안 돼요. 이건 건강 테스트의 본질이 아니에요. 브리더로서 놓치고 있는 걸 찾는 게 핵심입니다. 이 데이터는 올바른 브리딩 방향 설정을 위한 자료이고, 뛰어난 자견을 만들어 내기 위해 손에 쥐어진 과학적인 무기에요. 때문에 건강 테스트 자료의 결과를 정확히 이해하는 게 중요하고, 더 중요한 건 이 자료를 현장에서 활용하는 겁니다.

Q. 당신이 종국에 완성하고 싶은 이상적인 콜리와 코기는 어떤 모습인가요?
건강한 몸과 정신, 균형잡힌 밸런스, 완벽한 어깨 배치, 좋은 다리 길이, 멋진 가슴과 수평 톱라인. 이 모든 것이 조화를 이뤄 완벽한 개를 만든다고 생각해요 저는 모든 세대에 걸쳐 이 모든 요소를 성취하기 위해 노력하고 있고, 이미 수 대에 걸쳐 제가 좋아하는 타입을 어느 정도 완성했다고 생각해요. 앞으로 그 타입을 다듬고 보완하는 일이 Born To Be의 목표입니다.

Q. Born To Be 켄넬의 코기 중 일부는 긴 꼬리를 갖고 있어요. 차이가 무엇인가요?
펨브록 웰시코기는 유전적으로 꼬리가 긴 아이도 있고, 밥테일(bobtail)이라고.. 짧은 꼬리로 태어나는 아이도 있어요. 오랫동안 긴 꼬리는 단미를 해왔죠. 하지만 2012년 이래로 EU는 법으로 동물의 인위적인 단미와 단이를 금지하고 있어요. 동물의 동의를 구하지 않은 학대라고 판단해서입니다.

Q. 코기에게 꼬리는 짧은 다리와 더불어 중요한 상징인데, 고민이 많았을 것 같은데요.
전 오랫동안 긴 꼬리, 그 중에서도 등 위로 둥글게 말려 올라간 꼬리 때문에 힘든 시간을 보냈어요. 왜냐하면 코기는 좋은 꼬리에 대해서 만큼은 신의 선택을 받지 못했기 때문이죠. 코기의 조상은 (꼬리가 둥글게 위로 말린) 스피츠이고, 그들의 활달한 성격을 알기 때문에, 누구도 코기에게 치켜 올린 꼬리를 내리라고 요구할 수 없어요. 그래서 저는 단미를 한 유럽의 개들이 대부분인 도그쇼에서 무척 어려움을 겪었죠. 꼬리는 균형을 잡는 역할을 하기 때문에 꼬리가 있는 개와 없는 개의 움직임은 완전히 다르거든요.

Q. Born To Be의 코기 꼬리에 대한 입장은 무엇인가요?
이 질문은 여전히 다루기 어려운 문제이고, 수 많은 포럼에서 큰 논쟁거리가 되고 있어요. 꼬리가 없는 코기의 뒤뚱뒤뚱 섹시한 움직임은 모든 코기 마니아들의 로망이니까요. Bort To Be는 4대째 짧은 꼬리(bobtail)를 가진 코기를 안정적으로 배출한 브리딩 라인을 완성했어요. 때문에 개에게 고통을 주지 않고, 법을 위반하지 않아도 코기의 사랑스러운 코기의 엉덩이를 볼 수 있답니다. 그러나 우리는 등 위로 말려 올라가지 않았다면 긴 꼬리도 자연 그대로 브리딩에 선택하고 있어요. 그 자체로도 충분히 훌륭한 코기이니까요.

Q. 당신이 생각하는 콜리나 코기에게 이상적인 반려인은 어떤 모습인가요?
저는 콜리의 이상적인 반려인은 아름다운 정원 갖고 있는 가족이라고 생각해요. 콜리는 훌륭한 가족의 일원으로 역할을 할 줄 아는 녀석이고, 섬세하기 때문에 아기들도 아주 잘 돌본답니다. 특히 모질 관리가 잘 된 콜리와 잘 관리된 정원은 모두가 꿈꾸는 이상적인 가족의 모습을 완성해주죠.ㅎㅎ

코기는 콜리보다 활동적이기 때문에 더 큰 노력이 필요합니다. 코기는 자주 외출과 운동을 함께 해줘야 하고, 동시에 기본 트레이닝도 반드시 필요합니다. 저는 개인적으로 젊은 반려인들이 코기와 활동적인 라이프스타일을 즐기는 모습이 좋습니다. 여행이나 하이킹 등 액티비티 활동의 좋은 파트너이고, 단지 집에서 시간을 보내더라도 함께라면 행복할 거에요. 코기는 그림자처럼 어떤 상황에서도 가족과 함께 하길 원하니까요.

Q. Born To Be에서 강아지를 입양하길 원하는 분들에게 하는 질문이 있나요?
저는 “얼마나 긴 시간을 개 혼자 집에 머물러야 하나요?”라는 질문을 합니다. 만약 개가 매일 6~8시간 정도를 혼자 있어야 한다면, 전 차라리 금붕어를 기르라고 추천할 거에요. 그리고 개에 대한 모든 경험을 묻습니다. 개에 대한 경험이 있는 분들도 기본 트레이닝을 위한 독 스쿨(Dog School)에 가기를 추천해요. 이건 개를 위한 게 아니라 반려인을 위해서입니다.

개가 살게 될 장소에 대해서도 물어요. 만약 필요하다면 직접 방문하기도 하죠. 그리고 입양 첫 주에 어떻게 함께 지내야 하는 지에 대해 안내해줍니다. 저는 강아지에게 발생 가능한 거의 모든 이슈에 대한 답을 담은 상세한 가이드를 갖고 있어요. 반려인에게 많은 정보를 제공하고, 또한 입양한 개에 대한 전 생애에 걸쳐 조언자가 되어 줍니다.

Q. Born To Be 입양자에게 요구하는 필수사항은 무언가요?
앞서서도 얘기했지만, 모든 반려인은 꼭 독 스쿨에 참가해야 해요. 그리고 절대 하루에 6~8시간 이상 개를 집에 혼자 놔두면 안 됩니다. 또한 제게 알리지 않고 개를 다른 집에 보내서도 안 돼요. 이게 제가 입양자에게 요구하는 필수 사항입니다.

Q. 당신이 기억하는 가장 성공적인 입양 케이스를 알려주세요.
이건 매우 어려운 질문인데요. 왜냐하면 Born To Be는 입양자를 매우 조심스럽게 선별하고, 입양하신 분들은 모두 놀라울 만큼 행복한 반려생활 중이기 때문이죠. 우리는 개가 나이를 드는 만큼 입양자들과 오랜 시간을 함께 보냈고, 모두 친구가 되었어요. 여전히 많은 분들과 매일 연락을 주고 받고 있습니다. 입양자 중에는 세계적인 가수, 배우, 요리사 같은 셀럽들도 있어 자랑스러운 것도 사실이지만, 중요한 건 Born To Be가 브리딩한 개들로 인해 많은 사람들을 만나 놀라운 인연을 만들었다는 거에요.

Q. Born To Be 켄넬의 대표견들을 소개해주세요.
러프 콜리 중에는 제 인생의 첫 번째 쇼독인 WINNY (Silver Dream Black Yucca)가 있어요. 전 그녀에게 깊이 감사하고 있고, 여전히 Born To Be 켄넬 콜리들의 혈통서에 그녀의 이름이 존재하고 있죠. 그리고 MAYA(Born To Be Endless Love)는 항상 상냥하고 행복한 소녀에요. 그녀는 어떤 것에도 두려움이 없는 외향적인 성격을 갖고 있어서 많은 사람들을 매료시키죠. 그리고 아름다운 종견인 JETHRO는 영국 챔피언입니다. 콜리의 종주국에서 챔피언이 된다는 건 매우 어려운 일이에요. 그 어려운걸 JETHRO가 해냈어요. 영국에서 참가한 모든 쇼에서 BOB(Best of Breed) 타이틀을 땄고, 러프콜리 스페셜티쇼에서도 최고의 자리에 올랐죠.

Q. 코기들은 어떤 녀석들이 있나요?
코기 중에서는 NAPO(Andvol Fregat Moei Mecthy)가 제겐 첫 번째에요. 러시아에서 온 NAPO와 저는 브리더로서 아주 많은 경험을 했죠. 아직도 전 이 녀석이 종 특유의 전형을 보여줬다고 생각해요. 그리고 MITCH(Hazelmere Mitch a Match)는 우리가 남아공에서 수입한 아이이고, 유럽의 코기 역사에 큰 족적을 남겼죠. 한 눈에 봐도 멋진 아이에요. 우리는 MITCH의 혈통을 기반으로 브리딩 라인을 설계했고, 뛰어난 후손들을 배출했습니다.

이밖에 JOSEPHINE(Born To Be Madame Bonaparte)은 가장 영리하고 스윗한 코기 소녀이고, CASSIOPEIA(Born To Be Your Cassopeia with Pietra)는 저의 굳건한 공주님이에요. BORI(Born To Be Your Juniper Berry)와 SUGAR(Born To Be Your Best Kept Secret with Twinan)도 빼놓을 수 없어요. CHIP(Aubrey’s Son of a Preacher Man)은 제 아들이나 다름없고요. 열거하기 어려울 만큼 사랑을 나누고 있고, 하나같이 훌륭한 아이들이랍니다.

영광스럽게도 Born To Be는 두 마리의 영국 챔피언을 배출했어요. 영국 TWINAN 켄넬의 멋진 브리더인 트레이시 어빙(Tracy Irving)과 강력한 협업을 통해 SALTY(Born To Be Your Salt Dog)가 영국의 도그쇼에서 완벽한 모습을 선보이고 있어요. 그리고 Born To Be의 세 번째 영국 챔피언 탄생을 앞두고 있습니다.

Q. Born To Be는 일년에 몇 번이나 브리딩을 하나요?
저는 브리딩에 대한 명확한 플랜이나 숫자에 얽매어 있지는 않아요. 부정기적이란 표현이 맞겠네요. 우리 켄넬의 모견들은 봄과 가을, 두 번의 번식기가 거의 동시에 와요. 전 거기서 여러 가능성들 중에서 선택을 할 수 있죠. 최고의 조합을 만들어 내기 위해 항상 노력할 뿐입니다.

Q. 콜리나 코기를 입양했거나 계획 중인 한국의 반려인들에게 조언해준다면요.
당신과 가족이될 강아지를 믿을 수 있는 브리더로부터 입양하세요. 12 ~15년을 함께 살아야 하기 때문에 전문가에게 입양하는 건 매우 중요합니다. 브리더는 당신이 입양할 강아지의 라인을 모두 알고 있고, 그 강아지의 일생동안 언제라도 도움을 줄 거에요. 이건 성공적이고 행복한 반려생활을 위해 엄청 중요한 부분입니다. Born To Be 입양자들은 언제든지 제게 조언을 구할 수 있고, 이 부분에 대해 매우 만족하고 있습니다.

그리고 첫 1년간은 강아지와 많은 시간을 함께 보내세요. 우리가 아기였을 때부터 18살까지 성장 과정을 생각해보세요. 이 기간 동안 경험하는 모든 것이 우리의 자아형성에 엄청난영향을 미친 것처럼 당신의 개도 마찬가지에요. 강아지에게 가능한 많은 것들을 가르치세요. 그리고 가능한 많은 장소를 경험하게 해주세요. 이게 그 이후 도래할 십여년 간 그 개와 놀랍도록 행복한 시간을 보낼 수 있는 방법입니다. 명심하세요.

Q. First of all, please introduce BORN TO BE KENNEL to Korean readers.
Born To Be kennel was founded in year 2000. We started with Rough Collies and when I am in love with a breed I want to go in the deepest in it. I went to UK, the origin of the breed to see personally the famous dogs and breeders. Then went to France to work as a kennel helper for a whole summer. I learnt most of the bases there about breeding. The breeder of my first collie was also a great mentor for me, but I was always ready to learn. In 2007 I saw the corgi of my dreams in Moscow, Russia and that moment I was lost. I went to his breeder and immediately reserved a puppy from his coming litter. This is how the first corgi came to my life. Then - just like with collies - I wanted to learn more and educate. Nowadays it is much easier as there are many information online. In the time when I started the real meetings on shows and in kennels were the connection points. The world has changed a lot, but I still believe breeding is something what you must do and not just talk about it. Teamwork is the best possible way because when you are a breeder you will experience that Mother Nature is the God, not you. Sometimes you have downhills and only good breeder friends can get you out of it. To be a good breeder you need lots of strength, energy and knowledge. With real cynological knowledge breeding is an art. I do believe that breeding for function is essential. The living nearly 400 dog breeds are our heritages and we must save them to the next generation in the most possible way.

Q. Why did you decide to become a breeder?
I was so young when my first litter was born and it was powered by a very strong passion of the breed. Normal kids like music bands and going to disco etc.. meanwhile I corresponded with all big breeders worldwide and learnt all pedigrees by heart. My brain was a sponge for everything about dogs and I quickly realised I am able to improve the breed. So it came like that.

Q. There are many kinds of dogs, but why did you choose collie and corgi?
My family got a collie as a present while I was a baby. When I was older I was asking for a dog and my parents gave me a collie puppy for my 9th birthday. She was with us for 2 years unfortunately. Then I was asking for a new dog and asked my parents for a year to get a puppy from a breeder because I read a lot about this topic and knew in my early ages that from a breeder I can get not only a dog, but a friendship for lifetime also. The breeder of this collie was my first mentor and she opened my eyes to the real dog world. Showing dogs started then. Going to the shows I saw corgis sometimes and found this breed so intelligent and lovely. I remember the moment, when I was in Russia and saw my biggest corgi love of that time. I was amazed by the connection of him and his breeder. I thought it is the time, so I went to the breeder and gave her all my money I had with me saying this is a deposit for a quality puppy from this dog I fell in love with. Some months later Napo, his son came to our life and the real addiction started.

Q. What are the advantages(pros) and disadvantages(cons) of collie and corgi?
They have very different characters. Collies are artistocrats. They have a very special soul and can be sensitive, although very intelligent breed and so easy to live with them. You don’t need to teach them to certain things. They just know it. I love how elegant they can be. When an awesome collie flows in the ring and also has the sweetest head with kind expression, that just melts my heart.
Meanwhile corgis are very very smart, very social and has a lovely way of humour which I cannot stop to admire day by day. I love that they think they are my shadow and follow me anywhere. They always want to know everything, ready to do anything and smile all day long. I love their attitude and character and I think I found my personality in them.

Q. What is the most important thing you consider to be in the breeding?
It is not a one-word answer. There are many factors I think are very important, but one of the most is the character. The character is that with which you have to live your days, so in case something is not good, then even the most beautiful dog can be difficult to have.
Standard is a key, so knowing that is a must for all who are in connection with the breed. Very important not trying to change it, nor care less about it. Without a good anatomy and proportions there will be always a problem in the whole picture. And what put the cherry on the cake is the face and expression. Another thing I think is bad, I don’t care about anything else. If I don’t fell in love with the smile and expression, I am not so much interested in the body. So this is an alpha and the omega aswell.
Good character, lovely head, balanced body and construction with sound movement are essentials. Then if I am talking about breeding, I must admit the importance of the health tests. Never overvaluate them, because that is also wrong if we concentrate only to have our dog CLEAR for all breed specific health issues. This is not the point and meanwhile trying to get it all we loose is the type, the breed itself. These are information for breeders, tools in the hand to make excellent litters. Understanding the results is important, using them well is even more.

Q. What is the most ideal collie and corgi you want to complete?
I think I already have the type which I like so much in our home since generations. My goal is to fix it for the future and then I am satisfied. Good health, lovely heads on a great body with perfect shoulder placements, good length of upper arms, nice chests and level topline, all resulting a sound movement. I am working on that to accomplish all these virtues in all generations.

Q. Some of your corgis have tail. As far as I know, Pembroke has no tail. What is the difference?
Since 12 years the EU made a law and since that it is forbidden to dock the tails (and ears also for several breeds). In their thought it is cruel. We had many bad years experiencing to see corgis with long tails and very ugly tail carriages, as the breed was never selected for good tail carriage. And what is the good carriage? Since their spitz anchestors and knowing their dominant personality, no one can ask them to use it down. We had to get used to see Pembrokes with long tails. We had to go to shows where import dogs were docked, European dogs were not and the picture of the classes was so different. Movement is totally different for each, because with the tail they can balance and without the tail their sexy movement is a wish of all corgi enthusiasts.
This is still a big question on many forums, still difficult to handle, but I am happy to say I have now my 4th generation natural bobtail line, so I can always enjoy their lovely butt without torturing them or going against docking law. However meantime I got used to the look of the long tail and that does not bother me at all…. As long as it is not curly over the back. I am trying to do selection on tail carriage also.

Q. Who is the most suitable guardian(owner) for collie and corgi?
I think the ideal owner of a collie is a family with family house, nice garden. They enjoy the family life so much, babysitting the young ones and being picturesque in the garden. They are real jewels when their coat is cared well and like so much the usual routines of the days.
Corgis are somewhat more active, they need happenings. They enjoy going out anywhere with the owners. They need heavy mental training also. I love to see my corgis in young couples’ hands who live active life with their corgis, travel, hike or just have a siesta at home, but always next to their corgis. They are real shadows and you can’t leave them out from any situation. Their body is compact, so it is really easy to take them anywhere.

Q. What questions do you ask to those who wish to adopt?
How much time should the dog stay at home alone? If it is more than 6-8 hours daily, then I recommend a goldfish.
I ask all their dog experiences, but I prefer if they go to a dog school for a basic training. It is not for the dog, but for the owner.
I ask about the place where the dog would live (if needed, I go and visit also) and try to recommend how to live the life together in the first weeks.
I have a very detailed guide to the puppy which includes the answers of all questions which could come up… or even more. I give lots of information to the owners and also lifetime support.

Q. Do you have any mandatory requirements for adopting puppy?
Dog school for all beginners and the dog cannot stay at home also more than 6-8 hours per day.
Also the dog cannot be placed to an other home without letting me know about that.

Q. What is the most memorable adoption case?
This is very difficult because our family is huge now since we carefully select the owners and they are ALL AMAZING!!! We spend a lot of time together, we became friends and keep daily contacts with many.
There are dogs from us at some famous people (singer, actress, chef) too which make us proud. But the important is that we met many awesome people because of our dogs and this is the big thing!

Q. Please introduce your representative dogs.
I have several special ones.
In collies I would name one of my favourites: WINNY - Silver Dream Black Yucca, my first real show dog with who I started breeding and showing. I can thank her so much and she is still in the pedigrees of many dogs. MAYA - Born To Be Endless Love. She was so gentle and always happy girl. She had an outstanding character, she was not afraid of anything and that impressed so many people. JETHRO - my beautiful male who became UK.Ch. which is really a big thing. Not easy to achieve this title in the motherland, but he did it with winning all his titles on Speciality Shows and every time with Best of Breed result.
In corgis, NAPO, my first - Andvol Fregat Moei Mechty. With him I had so much experience and I still think he was a remarkable dog of the breed. MITCH - Hazelmere Mitch a Match, our South-African import dog who put a huge stamp on corgis in Europe. His type is so recognisable. Now we made several line breedings on him and I am amazed to see the result. He is really one-of-a-kind.
JOSEPHINE - Born To Be Madame Bonaparte, the most intelligent and sweetest corgi girl. CASSIOPEIA, Born To Be Your Cassiopeia with PIETRA, my stubborn princess. Her way of thinking is incredible. BORI - Born To Be Your Juniper Berry & SUGAR - Born To Be Your Best Kept Secret with Twinan. They are my very special girls, so close to my heart. CHIP - Aubrey’s Son of a Preacher Man. He is my son. Simple as it is. We are shockingly in big love.
Proud to speak about our 2 UK.Ch. corgis so far also. We work with strong co-operation with an awesome breeder of UK - Tracy Irving (Twinan kennel) who showed our dogs to perfection: SALTY - Born To Be Your Salt Dog at Twinan. The other is the top cardigan corgi of the UK for the second year in a row now with 18 CCs - PIETRA of Trefilio Borntobe Avalanche - LIBBY.
So proud to bred these amazing dogs. And the third is also nearly there…

Q. How many times a year do you have puppies?
I don’t have a certain plan or number. Now mostly all my females come into season in the same time: spring and autumn, so I have many possibilities to choose from. We keep from all our litters (or co-own), so we try to do very interesting combinations.

Q. Please give advice to Korean people who are raising collie and corgi or want to adopt them.
Choose your puppy from a trustable breeder. This is the key. Puppy is for 12-15 years and it is very important to have it from a professional, who knows the line of the dog and can help during his lifetime any time. This is a big thing and all our owners are so happy they can turn to me always for advices.
Spend a lot of time together with the puppy at the first year because that is the period when they grow up. Imagine our life from babyhood to the age of 18. All we experienced in these years put a huge mark on our personality. The same goes through with your dog, but in 1 year. Teach them as many things as possible, go to as many places as possible and this way you will have an amazing dog with who it will be a joy to live all the coming years.
